Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your continued trust and support of our services! To ensure a more stable and secure operating system environment, we are issuing this important notice regarding the usage of CentOS 7.x versions, and we would like to clarify the following points:
1. Relationship of CentOS 7.x Versions:
CentOS 7.x, ranging from CentOS 7.0 to CentOS 7.9, is based on the source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7. Throughout this series, CentOS versions 7.0 through 7.8 have been updated and patched over time, with CentOS 7.9 being the final and most up-to-date version, which integrates all critical updates, security patches, and performance improvements from earlier releases.
2. Why We Recommend Using CentOS 7.9:
Security: CentOS 7.9 is the last stable release in the CentOS 7 series, and it will continue to receive official security updates and support until June 2024. Compared to earlier versions, CentOS 7.9 includes all the necessary security fixes and improvements, making it the ideal choice for production environments.
Long-term Support: CentOS 7.9 ensures long-term stability and support, guaranteeing your system’s security and compatibility for the next few years.
Compatibility and Stability: As the final stable release, CentOS 7.9 has been thoroughly tested and provides a reliable and secure environment for most applications, offering a high degree of stability for long-term use.
3. Statement Regarding Other Versions:
Given that CentOS 7.x versions do not introduce significant functional differences, we strongly recommend that all customers use CentOS 7.9 as their standard operating system. Versions prior to CentOS 7.9 (including 7.0 to 7.8) are no longer officially supported and do not receive security updates. As a result, we will no longer provide installation, upgrade, or technical support for these earlier versions.
4. Conclusion:
To ensure the security, stability, and long-term support of your server system, we strongly advise choosing CentOS 7.9 as your operating system version. We will continue to provide necessary support and services for CentOS 7.9, ensuring that you are not impacted by version-related issues.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
